Hague passed in Guat

Yesterday, 5/22, the Guat Congress had the 3rd reading of the Hague treaty and it passed. What does this mean? Well, it won't go into effect until 1/1/08 and other than that it doesn't mean much. It does mean that Guatemala needs to implement Hague compliant legislation in order for US adoptions to continue next year. We'll just have to wait and see if they can get it done in time. Of course I hope they don't implement anything before we have rec'd and accepted our referral. Then hopefully we will be grandfathered in under the old laws.
