Called foster mother tonight...

So I just finished up a 30 minute call between me, my foster mother and a translator. It was VERY cool!! I found out some great stuff...

1. My foster mother (FM) has 3 older children who are all out of the house. She also has 5 grandkids and lots of nieces and nephews. She's been living with her boyfriend for over 15 years but they are not married (you go girl!) And Ava is their one and only foster child! The FM said that its so nice to have a little girl in the house again and that she gets lots of attention and she is being spoiled by everyone in her family. Yay!! Spoil away!!

2. She said she is almost done with the 2 disposable cameras I sent down last month so she needs more of those. She also said she needs the next size in clothes (which would mean 3-6 months) because she is growing and growing! And she needs warm clothes because it is "mucho frio en Guatemala".

3. She said she is a very happy baby who smiles all the time. She loves to be talked to and watches TV (just like her momma!). She said she is a very aware baby and always wants to know what is going on...turns and looks around the room when she hears something. She said she answers to her name although they call her "bebe" a lot. She said she loves to lay down and likes being on her tummy. She can sit and hold her head up on her own too!

4. She is eating 4oz. every 4 hours. She wakes at 1am and 5am for bottles and then wakes at 8am for the day. She said she naps well during the day too.

5. The doctor came last week for her check up. He said she looked great! She had a little cold (probably because it is "mucho frio") but he gave her some drops (?) and it cleared up very quickly. OK!

6. She said the DNA test and Social Worker interview went very well...no problems.

7. Finally, she said for me to not worry (oh, okay!) because they are taking very good care of her and are enjoying having her in the house.

So all in all a great call! I even heard Ava in the background...she was just starting to wake from a nap and I heard her coo a little bit! :) Looking forward to getting my hands on her next week!!

ah, the 'very cold' in guatemala concern. they bundle those kids up soooo much.

don't you worry, it is the "land of eternal spring" there and compared to where you are it is downright balmy!

how lovely to get to chat with her.

hope your baby girl is home soon.
