BIG NEWS!!!

My agency gave us a "heads up" today that JCICS will be making an announcement later in the day. They have been told that the President of Guatemala has stated that he supports the amendment to the recently approved adoption law that would allow in process adoptions to continue under the current law. So with this information they are even MORE positive that the grandfathering amendment will be passed when voted on in November. Yahoo!!!

EDITED TO ADD: THE INFORMATION ABOVE RE: PRESIDENT BERGER SUPPORTING THE GRANDFATHER CLAUSE MAY BE INCORRECT. SOMEONE ON A MESSAGE BOARD I READ SAID THEY EMAILED JCICS THIS AFTERNOON TO ASK IF IT WAS TRUE...JCICS REPLIED THAT IT WAS NOT TRUE. JCICS WILL BE POSTING INFORMATION REGARDING THIS AND OTHER DETAILS TOMORROW AT WWW.JCICS.ORG. VERY DISAPPOINTING NEWS TO SAY THE LEAST...

In other good news, we received DNA Authorization today which means the US Embassy in Guatemala has received our paperwork and has authorized our lawyer to conduct the DNA test on Ava and her birthmother. Yippee!!!

Happy day, happy day!!!
